List of Official Hizbut Tahrir Nasyrah: Lisanul Hizb in Struggle
“And let there be [arising] from you a nation inviting to [all that is] good, enjoining what is right and forbidding what is wrong. And those are the successful.” (QS. Ali Imran: 104)
In the busyness of continuous da’wah flow, there is one means no less important than mutabannat books, namely nasyrah (نشرة) — periodic publications that become the lisanul hizb or official voice of Hizbut Tahrir.
If mutabannat books are the foundation of thought that is solid, then nasyrah is the bridge that connects that thought with the moving reality of the Ummah. Nasyrah carries shar’i analysis of current events, guides the Ummah so they are not swept away by enemy propaganda, and provides clear perspective amidst the fog of confusion.
This page presents a complete list of official Hizbut Tahrir nasyrah, the function of each, and how to access them for da’wah and tatsqif purposes.
1. The Position of Nasyrah in Hizbut Tahrir’s Da’wah Manhaj
Before we discuss the list of nasyrah, it is important for us to understand why nasyrah holds such a strategic position in Hizbut Tahrir’s da’wah manhaj.
Shaykh Taqiyyuddin An-Nabhani rahimahullah in the book At-Takattul Al-Hizbi explains that a political party — including Hizbut Tahrir — requires means to convey thought and political opinion to the Ummah. Without this means, da’wah will be cut off from reality and the Ummah will lose guidance amidst the storm of fitnah.
Evidence on the Obligation of Conveying
Allah SWT says:
“Say, ‘This is my way; I invite to Allah with insight, I and those who follow me. And exalted is Allah; and I am not of those who associate others with Him.’” (QS. Yusuf: 108)
Ibn Abbas radhiyallahu ‘anhuma interpreted this verse: “I call to tawhid with clear proof, and so do those who follow me call to what I call to.”
Rasulullah ﷺ also said:
«بَلِّغُوا عَنِّي وَلَوْ آيَةً»
“Convey from me, even if it is one verse.” (HR. Bukhari no. 3461)
Imam Al-Bukhari rahimahullah placed this hadith in the Book of Knowledge, Chapter “The Obligation of Conveying Knowledge”, showing that conveying knowledge is an obligation that cannot be negotiated.
Hadith on the Virtue of Da’wah
«مَنْ دَلَّ عَلَى خَيْرٍ فَلَهُ مِثْلُ أَجْرِ فَاعِلِهِ»
“Whoever guides to good will have a reward like the doer of it.” (HR. Muslim no. 1893)
In another narration:
«مَنْ دَعَا إِلَى هُدًى كَانَ لَهُ مِنَ الْأَجْرِ مِثْلُ أُجُورِ مَنْ تَبِعَهُ لَا يَنْقُصُ ذَلِكَ مِنْ أُجُورِهِمْ شَيْئًا»
“Whoever calls to guidance will have a reward like the rewards of those who follow him, without that decreasing anything from their rewards.” (HR. Muslim no. 2674)
These hadiths become the primary motivation for anyone involved in the publication and distribution of nasyrah. Every letter read, every analysis contemplated, will have its reward flowing to the authors and publishers.
2. Definition and Function of Nasyrah
What is Nasyrah?
In Hizbut Tahrir terminology, nasyrah (نشرة) is defined as:
النَّشْرَةُ هِيَ وَسِيلَةُ إِصْدَارِ الْفِكْرِ وَالرَّأْيِ السِّيَاسِيِّ بِشَكْلٍ دَوْرِيٍّ
“Nasyrah is a means of issuing thought and political opinion in periodic format.”
This definition contains several important points:
| Element | Explanation |
|---|---|
| Wasilah (وسيلة) | Nasyrah is a tool/means, not an end. It functions to convey, not replace the thought itself. |
| Fikr (الفكر) | Contains fundamental Islamic thought, not just news or surface information. |
| Ra’yu Siyasi (الرأي السياسي) | Contains shar’i political views on current events. |
| Dauri (دوري) | Published periodically — weekly, monthly, or quarterly. |
Main Functions of Nasyrah
Nasyrah has five interrelated functions:
First: I’lam (إعلام) — Providing Information
Nasyrah informs the Ummah about important events occurring throughout the Islamic world, especially those concerning da’wah and struggle interests. This is not merely “news”, but rather filtered information through an Islamic perspective.
Second: Tawjih (توجيه) — Providing Direction
Nasyrah not only tells “what is happening”, but also “how a Muslim should respond to it”. This is where the fundamental difference lies between HT nasyrah and conventional mass media.
Third: Tatsqif (تثقيف) — Nurturing Thought
Through nasyrah, members and da’wah carriers of HT continuously nurture their thought to have a sharp and consistent perspective on various issues.
Fourth: Tafaa’ul (تفاعل) — Interacting with the Ummah
Nasyrah becomes a bridge between HT and the Ummah. Through nasyrah, HT conveys official stances on important events, so the Ummah knows where to refer.
Fifth: Tahridh (تحريض) — Motivating Struggle
Nasyrah also functions to arouse the spirit of the Ummah, remind them of Allah’s promises, and encourage them to engage in da’wah.
3. Analogy: Nasyrah as Da’wah Circulation System
“Imagine the human body which has a heart as the pumping center and blood vessels as distribution channels.
Heart = Hizbut Tahrir Central Headquarters (source of thought) Main arteries = Al-Waie (international nasyrah, global distribution) Artery branches = Regional nasyrah (regional distribution) Capillaries = Local nasyrah (distribution to grassroots level) Blood = Islamic thought (fikr) and political analysis (ra’yu siyasi)
When the heart pumps, oxygen-rich blood flows through vessels to every cell of the body. If vessels are smooth, all cells receive oxygen and the body remains healthy. If vessels are blocked, cells die, the body weakens, and disease easily attacks.
Similarly in da’wah. When nasyrah is smoothly published and distributed, Islamic thought flows to every member and the Ummah. They are nurtured, motivated, and ready to struggle. When nasyrah stops, the Ummah loses guidance, easily goes astray, and the struggle weakens.
Nasyrah is the da’wah circulation system — without it, Islamic thought does not flow, and the Ummah will experience intellectual ‘oxygen deprivation’.”
Mapping the Analogy to Reality
| Body Element | Da’wah Analogy | Evidence in Reality |
|---|---|---|
| Heart | HT Central Headquarters | Source of thought and official policy |
| Main arteries | Al-Waie | International nasyrah, routinely published |
| Branch vessels | Regional nasyrah | Adapted to local context |
| Capillaries | Local nasyrah | Reaching unit/district level |
| Blood (oxygen) | Fikr & ra’yu siyasi | Life-giving Islamic thought |
| Body cells | Members and Ummah | Recipients of thought |
| Disease | Syubhat & propaganda | Enters when nasyrah is weak |
4. Al-Waie: Main International Nasyrah
Profile of Al-Waie
Al-Waie (الوعي) literally means “Awareness” or “Vigilance”. This is the most well-known and longest-published official international nasyrah of Hizbut Tahrir.
| Data | Information |
|---|---|
| Full Name | Al-Waie (الوعي) |
| Meaning | Awareness, intellectual vigilance |
| Frequency | Monthly |
| Primary Language | Arabic |
| Status | Official international nasyrah of HT |
| Main Content | Political analysis, Islamic thought, shar’i views |
| Target Readers | Muslims worldwide |
Brief History of Al-Waie
Al-Waie was first published in the 1950s era, not long after Hizbut Tahrir was established in 1953 CE. This nasyrah became HT’s main means to convey Islamic political views on major events in the Arab and Islamic world, including:
- Suez Crisis and nationalization of the Suez Canal
- Arab-Israeli conflict
- Fall of Khilafah and its impact
- Arab nationalism movement
- Western intervention in the Middle East
Content and Rubrics of Al-Waie
Al-Waie contains several main rubrics:
International Political Analysis Rubric
This is the core rubric of Al-Waie. Every major event is analyzed from the perspective of Islamic sharia. Not merely “news”, but rather analysis that answers the question: “What is Islam’s view on this event? What is its shar’i ruling? What position should Muslims take?”
Islamic Thought Rubric
This rubric contains in-depth articles on Islamic concepts — ranging from aqeedah, government system, economics, to social interaction. These articles usually refer directly to mutabannat books.
Official Hizbut Tahrir Stance Rubric
When an important event occurs requiring an official statement, HT publishes its official stance through Al-Waie. This becomes the main reference for all HT structures in various regions.
Islamic History Rubric
This rubric narrates Islamic historical events — from the Seerah of the Prophet ﷺ, the Companions, to the era of Islamic Khilafah. The purpose is to restore the Ummah’s pride in their own history.
Example Al-Waie Article
“Legislation is not but for Allah. He relates the truth, and He is the best of deciders.” (QS. Al-An’am: 57)
The event [current event] has occurred, shaking the Islamic world. Muslims should not be deceived by the narratives built by Western media. Indeed, truth only lies in what Allah and His Messenger have decreed…
How to Access Al-Waie
| Channel | Description |
|---|---|
| Official HT website | hizb-tahrir.org (Arabic) |
| Translation | Available in various languages on regional websites |
| Archive | Previous issues can be downloaded in PDF format |
| Social media | Important quotes disseminated through Telegram and Twitter |
5. Other Official Nasyrah
In addition to Al-Waie, Hizbut Tahrir publishes several other nasyrah, each with its own function and target readers.
Khilafah Magazine
Khilafah Magazine is an English-language publication published quarterly (every three months).
| Data | Information |
|---|---|
| Language | English (primary), Arabic |
| Frequency | Quarterly (4 times per year) |
| Target | English-speaking readers, especially in the West and Muslim countries using English |
| Characteristics | More special features, interviews, and in-depth reports |
Khilafah Magazine has a slightly different character from Al-Waie. If Al-Waie is more focused on periodic political analysis, Khilafah Magazine contains more special features — for example in-depth reports on the Islamic economic system, exclusive interviews with HT ulama, or comparative analysis between Western and Islamic systems.
Regional Nasyrah
Each Hizbut Tahrir region usually publishes its own nasyrah adapted to local context.
| Region | Example Nasyrah | Language |
|---|---|---|
| Palestine | Risalah Filastin | Arabic |
| Indonesia | Various local publications | Indonesian |
| Malaysia | Risalah Malaysia | Malay |
| Pakistan | Khilafah Pakistan | Urdu, English |
| Europe | Islam in Europe | English, French, German |
| Turkey | Hilafet Dergisi | Turkish |
Functions of regional nasyrah:
| Function | Explanation |
|---|---|
| Contextualization | Local issues analyzed from Islamic perspective |
| Local language | Easier for local people to understand |
| Fast distribution | Not dependent on center, can be published faster |
| Local interaction | Responding to regional-level events |
However, it must be emphasized that regional nasyrah must not contradict the line of thought established by the central headquarters. All regional nasyrah must align with the official manhaj and fikr of Hizbut Tahrir.
6. Difference Between Mutabannat Books and Nasyrah
This is a frequently asked question: what is the difference between mutabannat books and nasyrah? Both are means of conveying Islamic thought, but they have different functions.
| Aspect | Mutabannat Books | Nasyrah |
|---|---|---|
| Nature | Fixed (tsawabit), unchanging | Dynamic, adapting to reality |
| Content | Fundamental Islamic concepts | Analysis of current events |
| Frequency | Published once, becomes permanent reference | Periodic (weekly/monthly/quarterly) |
| Function | Foundation of thought (asas) | Application of thought to reality (tatbiiq) |
| Level | Obligatory for all da’wah carriers | Obligatory especially for those active in tafa’ul |
| Change | Only changes if there is official revision from author | Changes every issue according to events |
| Example | Nizhamul Hukm, Mafahim, At-Takattul | Al-Waie, Khilafah Magazine |
Simple analogy:
“If mutabannat books are textbooks in school — containing basic concepts that must be learned — then nasyrah is the newspaper reporting how those concepts are applied in current reality.”
A da’wah carrier is obliged to study both. Mutabannat books provide the foundation, nasyrah provides context. Without books, one has no basis. Without nasyrah, one loses connection with reality.
7. Digital Transformation of Nasyrah
From Print to Digital
Along with the development of time, HT nasyrah has also undergone transformation from print format to digital format.
Era 1950-1980s: Conventional Print
In this era, nasyrah was printed in paper format and physically distributed to members and sympathizers. The distribution process required a strong courier network, especially in regions where HT operated semi-openly.
Era 1990-2000s: Website
With the emergence of the internet, HT began publishing nasyrah digitally through official websites. This opened new possibilities — nasyrah could be accessed by anyone worldwide, without geographical limits.
Era 2010s: Social Media
Platforms like Facebook, Twitter, and Telegram became new distribution channels. Important quotes from nasyrah were disseminated in more concise formats for easy sharing.
Era 2020s: Complete Digital Format
Currently, nasyrah is available in various formats:
| Format | Description |
|---|---|
| Complete version, same as print edition | |
| Website article | HTML format easy to read in browser |
| Audio | Some nasyrah read in podcast format |
| Video | Visual summaries in short video format |
| Infographics | Important points in graphic format |
Advantages of Digital Format
| Advantage | Explanation |
|---|---|
| Global reach | Accessible from anywhere in the world |
| Low cost | No printing and physical distribution costs |
| Fast updates | Can be published faster than print edition |
| Easy archiving | Previous issues can be stored and searched easily |
| Interactive | Readers can share with others |
Challenges of Digital Format
| Challenge | Explanation |
|---|---|
| Censorship and blocking | Many HT websites blocked in certain countries |
| Internet dependency | Requires internet connection to access |
| Digital security | Risk of hacking and data theft |
| Hoax dissemination | Difficult to distinguish authentic from fake nasyrah |
8. Hierarchy of Nasyrah Reading
Not all nasyrah must be read by everyone. There are levels adapted to a person’s tatsqif (nurturing) level.
Level 1: General (Beginner)
Target: General public, sympathizers newly acquainted with HT
Recommended Reading:
| Media | Frequency | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| HT social media | Daily | Quick updates on HT views |
| HT website | As needed | Selected articles |
| Regional nasyrah | Monthly | Relevant local issues |
Purpose of this level: Introducing HT to the public, providing general overview of Islamic views on current events, and attracting interest to learn further.
Level 2: Da’wah Carriers (Intermediate)
Target: HT members, da’wah activists
Recommended Reading:
| Media | Frequency | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Al-Waie | Monthly | In-depth analysis from HT perspective |
| Regional nasyrah | Monthly | Contextualization of local issues |
| Complete HT website | Routine | Complete articles |
Purpose of this level: Nurturing the thought of da’wah carriers to have a consistent and deep perspective, and to be able to interact with the Ummah based on HT manhaj.
Level 3: Leadership (Advanced)
Target: Regional leaders, commissioners, fatwa and analysis teams
Recommended Reading:
| Media | Frequency | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Khilafah Magazine | Quarterly | Special features and strategic analysis |
| Internal documents | Routine | Internal nurturing and strategic directions |
| All nasyrah | Complete | Comprehensive understanding |
Purpose of this level: Providing strategic understanding so leaders can direct da’wah appropriately, analyze global constellation independently, and nurture members under them.
9. Etiquette of Reading and Distributing Nasyrah
Just as we have etiquette when reading religious books, so too we should have etiquette when reading nasyrah. Here are some etiquettes to note:
Before Reading
«إِنَّمَا الْأَعْمَالُ بِالنِّيَّاتِ»
“Indeed, actions are by intentions.” (HR. Bukhari no. 1, Muslim no. 1907)
Intend reading nasyrah for:
- Eliminating ignorance from oneself about what is happening in the Islamic world
- Nurturing thought to have correct perspective according to Islamic manhaj
- Preparing oneself to make da’wah and interact with the Ummah
While Reading
“Then do they not reflect upon the Qur’an? If it had been from [any] other than Allah, they would have found within it much contradiction.” (QS. An-Nisa: 82)
This verse commands tadabbur — deep reflection. Similarly when reading nasyrah:
- Understand, don’t just read. Read with concentration, not just skimming.
- Contemplate the analysis. Think about whether the evidence used is strong, whether the conclusions are logical.
- Note important points. Especially analyses that can be used when interacting with the Ummah.
- Compare with other news. See how other media report the same event, to know where the perspective differences lie.
After Reading
«مَنْ جَاءَهُ أَمْرٌ فَأَرَادَ أَنْ يَعْلَمَ صَوَابَهُ فَلْيَدْعُ بِهَذَا الدُّعَاءِ: اللَّهُمَّ أَرِنَا الْحَقَّ حَقًّا وَارْزُقْنَا اتِّبَاعَهُ، وَأَرِنَا الْبَاطِلَ بَاطِلًا وَارْزُقْنَا اجْتِنَابَهُ»
“Whoever comes to him a matter and wants to know its correctness, let him pray with this supplication: ‘O Allah, show us truth as truth and grant us ability to follow it, and show us falsehood as falsehood and grant us ability to avoid it.’”
- Practice. Use knowledge from nasyrah when interacting with others.
- Disseminate. Share important points with brothers who haven’t had time to read.
- Pray for the authors. Those involved in publishing nasyrah work hard for the Ummah. Pray that Allah SWT blesses their efforts.
10. Virtues of Being Involved in Nasyrah Publication
For those directly involved in nasyrah publication — whether as writers, editors, translators, or distributors — there is tremendous virtue.
Flowing Reward
Rasulullah ﷺ said:
«مَنْ سَنَّ فِي الْإِسْلَامِ سُنَّةً حَسَنَةً فَلَهُ أَجْرُهَا وَأَجْرُ مَنْ عَمِلَ بِهَا بَعْدَهُ مِنْ غَيْرِ أَنْ يَنْقُصَ مِنْ أُجُورِهِمْ شَيْءٌ»
“Whoever starts a good sunnah (tradition) in Islam will have its reward and the reward of those who act upon it after him, without that decreasing anything from their rewards.” (HR. Muslim no. 1017)
Every person who reads nasyrah, takes benefit, and spreads its knowledge — the reward also flows to the writers and publishers.
Jihad with the Pen
”…And whatever you spend in the cause of Allah will be fully repaid to you, and you will not be wronged.” (QS. Al-Anfal: 60)
Writing and publishing nasyrah is jihad with the pen — one of the forms of jihad greatly needed in this information age. When the enemies of Islam vigorously propagate deviant thoughts through their media, Muslims must be able to counter with their own media.
“And strive for Allah with the striving due to Him. He has chosen you and has not placed upon you in the religion any difficulty. [It is] the religion of your father, Abraham. Allah named you ‘Muslims’ before [in former scriptures] and in this [revelation] that the Messenger may be a witness over you and you may be witnesses over the people…” (QS. Al-Hajj: 78)
11. Summary and Closing

May Allah SWT bless every effort we make in conveying His da’wah and make these nasyrah witnesses of our goodness on the Day of Reckoning.
“And say, ‘Do [as you will], for Allah will see your deeds, and [so, will] His Messenger and the believers. And you will be returned to the Knower of the unseen and the witnessed, and He will inform you of what you used to do.’” (QS. At-Taubah: 105)
