Vision and Mission of the Hizbut Tahrir Wiki: Sowing the Seeds of Awareness
Welcome to the Hizbut Tahrir Wiki — a humble effort to organize this magnificent treasury of Islamic thought so that it may be easily accessed by every Muslim longing for the light of truth.
Allah says:
“And let there be [arising] from you a band of people inviting to all that is good, enjoining what is right and forbidding what is wrong.” (QS. Ali Imran: 104)
This Wiki is part of that band of people mentioned in the verse — a sincere effort to call to goodness through the path of knowledge.
Vision
To become an oasis of knowledge and the most comprehensive, clear, and organized digital reference center for Hizbut Tahrir thought in English.
We are here to guide every Muslim who wishes to understand Islam as a Mabda’ (ideology) independently, like a lamp guiding a traveler through the darkness of night.
Why an “Oasis of Knowledge”?
Because in the midst of the barren understanding of the Ummah about true Islam, we want to be a place where:
- Thirst for truth is quenched
- Drought of information is alleviated
- Weariness of searching ends in satisfaction
Allah speaks about the parable of knowledge:
وَمَا يَسْتَوِي الْأَعْمَىٰ وَالْبَصِيرُ . وَالَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ وَلَا الْمُسِيءُ ۚ قَلِيلًا مَا تَتَذَكَّرُونَ
“And the blind and the seeing are not equal, nor are those who believe and do righteous deeds equal to the evildoers. How little you remember.” (QS. Ghafir: 58)
Three Core Qualities
| Quality | Meaning | Implementation |
|---|---|---|
| Comprehensive | Covering all aspects of HT thought | From Aqidah to the state system |
| Clear | Easy to understand, not convoluted | Straightforward and flowing language |
| Organized | Systematic and sequential | A clear, tiered learning map |
Mission
1. Reorganizing the Treasury of Thought
To reassemble the pearls of knowledge from various official Hizbut Tahrir books into a neatly arranged Wiki container that is easily accessible to anyone.
Why does it need organizing?
Because the treasury of Hizbut Tahrir thought is vast:
- Thousands of pages from the books of Shaykh Taqiuddin
- Hundreds of nasheeds (nasyrah) scattered far and wide
- Thousands of articles and political analyses
Without good organization, these pearls could be lost or difficult to find.
How do we organize?
- Clear categorization — Every topic has its place
- Tight cross-linking — Every concept is interconnected
- Tiered learning map — From Darisan to Darisun Mutamayyiz
Allah loves orderliness:
“Indeed, Allah loves that when any one of you does a deed, he does it with excellence (itqan).” (HR. Thabrani)
2. Guiding the Steps of the Seeker of Knowledge
Providing a sequential learning path for those who have just begun their journey of knowing Hizbut Tahrir, so they may be spared from the murkiness of misunderstanding certain terms or concepts.
The Problem We See:
Many seekers of knowledge:
- Stop halfway because they don’t know where to start
- Misunderstand concepts because their learning is not sequential
- Feel frustrated because the material is too advanced for their level
The Solution We Offer:
- Level 1: Basic (Foundation of Aqidah)
- Level 2: Intermediate (Islamic System)
- Level 3: Advanced (Leadership)
Each level has:
- Clear targets
- Structured material
- Measurable evaluation
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ taught us to proceed gradually:
إِنَّ الدِّينَ يُسْرٌ، وَلَنْ يُشَادَّ الدِّينَ أَحَدٌ إِلَّا غَلَبَهُ
“Indeed, this religion is easy. No one makes it difficult except that it will overpower him.” (HR. Bukhari)
3. Clearing Doubts and Misgivings
Answering various anxieties and misunderstandings in society by referring directly to their original sources, namely the nasyrah and official books.
Common Doubts:
| Doubt | Wiki Answer |
|---|---|
| ”HT wants to establish a state through violence” | Principle of Non-Violence |
| ”The Khilafah is no longer relevant” | Definition and Urgency of the Khilafah |
| ”HT is just an ordinary political party” | Definition of Hizb |
| ”The fate of non-Muslims in the Khilafah” | Fate of Non-Muslims |
Our Principle:
Every answer must:
- Be grounded in evidence from the Qur’an and Sunnah
- Refer to mutabannat HT books
- Be conveyed with hikmah (wisdom), not with emotion
“Invite to the way of your Lord with wisdom and good instruction, and argue with them in a way that is best.” (QS. An-Nahl: 125)
4. Unifying Understanding
Becoming a reference dictionary for terms of struggle, in order to build deep mutual understanding within the Ummah, like the roots of trees strengthening one another.
Why is Mutual Understanding Needed?
Because differences in terminology often cause:
- Miscommunication among activists
- Divergent orientations in struggle
- Division because of feeling different in purpose
Solution:
- Clear definition for every term
- Reference to the original book
- Example of usage in context
Analogy of Tree Roots:
Like the roots of trees strengthening one another beneath the ground, mutual understanding will:
- Strengthen the ranks of da’wah
- Prevent division caused by misunderstanding
- Facilitate coordination in collective work (amal jama’i)
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:
الْمُؤْمِنُ لِلْمُؤْمِنِ كَالْبُنْيَانِ يَشُدُّ بَعْضُهُ بَعْضًا
“A believer to another believer is like a building whose different parts strengthen one another.” (HR. Bukhari-Muslim)
Writing Principles
1. Trustworthiness in Quoting
Every line of writing must stand firmly upon mutabannat (adopted) or tsaqafah (supporting) Hizbut Tahrir books.
Why is this important?
Because we do not want to:
- Add unfounded personal opinions
- Deviate from the manhaj of Hizbut Tahrir
- Mislead readers with inaccurate information
How We Maintain Trustworthiness:
- Every claim has its reference
- Every term has its definition
- Every ruling has its evidence
Allah commands us to be trustworthy:
إِنَّ اللَّهَ يَأْمُرُكُمْ أَنْ تُؤَدُّوا الْأَمَانَاتِ إِلَىٰ أَهْلِهَا
“Indeed, Allah commands you to render trusts to whom they are due.” (QS. An-Nisa’: 58)
2. Flowing and Straightforward Language
Using warm words that are easy to understand, without diminishing the weight of the depth of thought contained within.
Our Writing Style:
| Characteristic | Example |
|---|---|
| Warm | ”Welcome to the gateway of your journey of knowledge” |
| Straightforward | Straight to the point, no beating around the bush |
| Rich in analogies | ”Like the roots of trees strengthening one another” |
| Non-preachy | Inviting, not commanding |
Purpose:
So that readers:
- Feel welcomed, not judged
- Understand easily, not confused
- Feel motivated to continue, not hopeless
3. Unity of Thought
Every related concept is woven together with tight links, giving a picture of Islam that is comprehensive (syumul), as if seeing a beautiful building from every side.
Why is Unity Important?
Because Islam is an integrated system:
- Aqidah cannot be separated from Shariah
- Economics cannot be separated from politics
- The individual cannot be separated from society
How We Maintain Unity:
- Tight cross-linking between related articles
- Cross-referencing between related concepts
- The big picture always kept in mind in every discussion
Allah speaks about unity:
وَأَنَّ هَٰذَا صِرَاطِي مُسْتَقِيمًا فَاتَّبِعُوهُ ۖ وَلَا تَتَّبِعُوا السُّبُلَ فَتَفَرَّقَ بِكُمْ عَنْ سَبِيلِهِ
“And indeed, this is My straight path, so follow it! And do not follow [other] paths, for they will separate you from His way.” (QS. Al-An’am: 153)

A Prayer for the Readers of This Wiki
“O Allah, benefit us with what You have taught us, teach us what will benefit us, increase us in knowledge, grant us understanding and retention, bring us out from the darkness of conjecture, and honor us with the light of understanding.”
Conclusion
The Hizbut Tahrir Wiki is an oasis of knowledge that we present to:
- Organize the treasury of HT thought
- Guide the seeker of knowledge
- Clear doubts and misgivings
- Unify the understanding of the Ummah
We are aware that this is a small ikhtiar on a great path. But we are confident that, with Allah’s help, every letter we write can become ongoing charity (amal jariyah) whose reward continues to flow.
“Whoever calls to guidance, for him is a reward like the rewards of those who follow him.” (HR. Muslim)
